Sir,
Apropos the letter titled “Will CESC fix spacers to overhead lines? (SOM dated Aug. 3), it is observed some elements are not only encroaching public footpaths with permanent fixtures and barbed wires making the hapless public, specially children and senior citizens, direct targets to fast moving vehicles on roads but also growing coconut and other trees right under the very electric lines.
These power lines sometimes come in contact with each other and even get entangled because of blowing wind thus damaging electrical gadgets of consumers.
This is also hindering the movement of jeeps with ladders to replace and repair the street-lights. This point may also be considered while fixing the spacers in addition to either warn/punish such fugitives or street-lights and electric lines may kindly be shifted to the street itself.
