Suspected Honey Trap Case | Two more arrested; Cops launch hunt to nab other accused

Madikeri: Madikeri Police have arrested two more accused in the suspected honey trapping case bringing the total number of arrests to four including two women. The Cops have launched a hunt to trace and arrest two more accused in the case.

The two accused, who were arrested yesterday are 25-year-old B.A. Darshan Rai, an employee of a paint shop and a resident of Dechur Housing Board Colony in the town and 31-year-old S. Ravi, an auto driver.

The two women who were arrested on Saturday are Rachana and her mother Malathi, residents of Ashokapura on Siddapura Road.

It may be recalled that the victim identified as identified as H.P. Mahadeva (39), a native of Maddur in Mandya district, presently residing at Chamarajpet in Bengaluru had gone to Madikeri to meet his Facebook friend Rachana, when Rachana’s mother and one of the accused Dinesh questioned him about Rs. 10,000 which he had lent to Rachana.

Later, Dinesh along with other accused disrobed Mahadeva, assaulted him and demanded Rs. 50,000 to let him go.

But Mahadeva, on the pretext of answering nature’s call managed to escape in his underwear and ran to Madikeri Town Police Station and lodged a complaint, following which the Police arrested Rachana and her mother Malathi on Saturday besides launching a hunt to nab the other accused.

Yesterday, the Police arrested two more accused, bringing the number of arrests to four and are on the lookout for other two accused.
