Suttur Seer lays foundation for Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir at Yelwal

August 19, 2026

Mysuru: Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji performed the ground-breaking ceremony  for Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir (a CBSE curriculum school), the second campus of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, on Aloka Road, off  Yelwal Road in the city outskirts this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, the Swamiji said that the ceremony has happened in the auspicious Shravana Maasa.

“BVB was established eight decades ago and its Founder K.M. Munshiji jumped into the freedom struggle, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. Munshiji also played a role in the framing of the Constitution. Having a lot of concerns for saving environment and ecology, he had also strived for promotion of Indian culture and languages. The articles brought out by BVB are very valuable to the present generation. Even the then Prime Minister Nehru drew inspiration from the services and activities of BVB,” he noted.

Maintaining that BVB is dedicated for promotion of Indian education and values, the Seer recalled the services of late Founder-Editor of Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra Dr. K.B. Ganapathy, who also served as the Chairman of BVB, Mysuru.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who was the chief guest, said he was happy to be a part of the ground-breaking ceremony for the new school campus.

Stating that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has been in regular touch with the erstwhile Mysore royal family, he said BVB was not just a School but an Institution which propagates Indian culture.

“The Bhavan’s services and activities  are  vital for the next generation. BVB has been constantly working on reaching out rich Indian traditions to the current and next generation,” he said  and wished the new campus all success in its future endeavours.

Mysuru Revenue Division Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil, in his address, said  “BVB has been involved in promoting rich Indian values, spiritualism and culture for decades. The new campus should grow as an Institution which shapes the future of thousands of students in becoming responsible citizens of the country through valued education and enhance personal development and leadership qualities.”

BVB, Mysuru Kendra, Chairman Dr. C. Naganna, who welcomed, said that Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir campus will be ready in two years.

“Though there are as many as 78 Schools in Mysuru city that follow CBSE pattern, BVB will overcome the challenges that may come in the way by playing a vital role in making the Vidya Mandir a model one for the entire city,” he noted.

Executive Secretary and Director-General of BVB, Mumbai, Jagdish Prakash Lakhani, BVB, Mysuru Hon. Secretary P.S. Ganapaathy, Hon.Treasurer Dr. A.T. Bhashyam and others were present on the occasion.
