Swachh Bharat – the Nature’s way

June 19, 2018

This particular stretch of Lakshmanatheertha River near Hunsur on the Mysuru-Bantwal Highway that was covered with water hyacinth and other weeds is now clean, thanks to strong water current that has washed the weeds off.

Due to increased weed growth, the river was choked and foul smell permeated the entire area and even the local residents could not use the water.

Heavy rain in Kodagu has resulted in the increased water flow to the river that originates at the Brahmagiri Hill ranges in Kodagu.

The river later joins Cauvery at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam in Mandya district.
