Mysore/Mysuru: The Government of India recently launched the Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar to recognise and inspire schools that ensure excellence in extending water, sanitation and hygiene facilities on its campus.
This year, over 2,000 schools nominated themselves for the award. Each school was judged on parameters like water, sanitation, hand-washing with soap, operation and maintenance of hygiene, behaviour change activities and capacity building, Covid-19 preparedness and response.
After several rounds of inspection, 8 schools in Mysuru district bagged the awards for compliance to all parameters while 34 schools received certificates for compliance to at least one of the criteria specified above.
NPS International, Mysore (NPSI Mysore) is the only school in the city that has successfully fulfilled all criteria and has bagged the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar at the District-level for the academic year 2021-22 with a 5-star rating and an overall score of 98%.
This coveted award was presented to NPSI Principal Akhila Dinesh by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham during a felicitation ceremony organised at the DC’s office recently.
