“The move by the government to introduce text books for schools with revised syllabus has created a confusion among people and to create awareness on the proposal, a programme will be organised in June,” said BJP MLC Arun Shahapur.
He was speaking at an interaction on the subject at Madhava Krupa on JLB road here recently.
Arun Shahapur said that the syllabus revision had raked up a lot of controversies over the last two to three months and added that the proposed awareness programme would throw light on real facts.
He further said that the syllabus revision committee headed by litterateur Baragur Ramachandrappa had evolved a draft copy of the revised syllabus for classes from 1st to 8th standard and added that two subjects in 9th standard have syllabus picked up from CBSE system and the whole exercise is expected to cost Rs. 120 crore. He wondered why Ramachandrappa has not divulged the details of the new syllabus.
Continuing, Arun Shahapur said that the committee had suggested a good training for teachers before implementing the new syllabus. He alleged that the government has proposed to introduce the new syllabus without training the teachers who cannot deliver the goods in expected quality. He pointed out that the government and Education Minister had not co-ordinated well on the issue keeping the teachers in the dark.
Former Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda and Professor K.M. Veeraiah too participated in the interaction.
