T.S. Satyan remembered

September 4, 2023

Sir,

While reading the article on T.S. Satyan in Star of Mysore dated Aug. 16, I was reminded about an incident.

It was 27th May 1964. I was finalising Income Tax Returns of T.S. Satyan at Mysore. Shocking news of the death of our Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was coming on AIR. No photo-journalist would miss such an event.

He started getting calls from newspapers while he was in Mysore. But he could not get air ticket to Delhi.

So he contacted the Chief Minister’s Office, rushed to Bangalore and took a flight with Chief Minister S. Nijalingappa to Delhi. He was thus able to cover the funeral of Nehru.
