Athletics is the mother of all sporting events in the world sporting scene. Our city’s athlete Brunda S. Gowda, a product of DYES, Mysuru, did everyone proud by winning the shot-put gold representing Karnataka in South Zone National Athletic Championships.

Brunda threw a distance of 11.00m to win the gold . She is our ‘Star this Week.’

Brunda, daughter of Santosh and Sowmya, who hail from K.R. Nagar, is coached by Dharamveer Singh, M.L.Gopinath, SAK coach and M. Puneeth at DYES, Mysuru.

A ninth standard student of Sri Vani Vilas Ursu Girls High School, Mysuru, Brundha took up to sports from the age of 10 and started practicing shot-put from the sixth standard. She has won four gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the State and National Championships. She was placed among the top ten shot-putters in the Junior National Games held at Kerala.

Brunda aims to work hard  and represent the country in the International level.
