Talented Cricketer: Goutham Sagar

Cricket is a very popular game in our country and many youngsters have taken up cricket as their career. Mysuru also has its share of producing talented cricketers who have gone on to represent the State and the country. Mysuru city’s talented cricketer Goutham Sagar has come up with consistent performance with the willow representing Mofussil XI in the  KSCA Inter-Zonal U-19 Cricket Tournament being played at Bengaluru. Goutham Sagar leading the Mofussil XI, scored a brilliant century  (101) against Combined Mofussil XI and helped their team to secure the vital first innings lead. He is our ‘Star This Week.’

Goutham Sagar scored a well compiled 101 (133b, 11x4s, 2x6s) for Mofussil XI and it helped them to gain the vital first innings lead against the Combined Mofussil XI, who were bowled out for 127 in 60.2 overs, in their first innings. In reply, Combined Moffusil XI scored 41 for one in 8 overs, and the match ended in a draw in the KSCA U-19 Inter-Zonal Tournament played at the Green Sports Village Grounds, Bengaluru on Sept. 6.

Goutham Sagar, a middle-order batsman scored good runs for Mysuru Zone in the Inter-mofussil U-19 Tournament and earned selection to lead the Mofussil XI in the KSCA U-19 Inter-Zonal Tournament. Goutham Sagar in the second match against President’s XI scored 13 runs in their team’s first innings total of 288 for four in 90 overs.

Goutham Sagar has represented the State and also attended the NCA camp from the Mysuru Zone. A attacking batsman he also finds a place in the KPL 2017 and has been picked by the Bellary Tuskers.

Goutham Sagar plays for Saraswathipuram SC in the KSCA Mysuru Zonal League and has been a consistent performer with the bat and the ball in the tournament. He also is a prolific scorer in the U-19 Inter-Club Tournament conducted by the KSCA Mysuru Zone this year.

A player to watch, this lad has the potential of reaching greater heights in the sport, if he works hard on all the aspects of the game. He is being helped by the KSCA Mysuru Zone, KSCA Mysuru Zone Academy coaches and supported well by his parents. Sagar aims to work hard on all the aspects of the game and intends to represent the State in future.
