Talented Golfer- Pranavi S. Urs

January 14, 2018

Golf is a sport that attracts more players than any other outdoor sport. One of the reasons is the beautiful surroundings and the pleasure of being on the course to share this experience amongst friends and nature. To be able to perform successfully on such a playing field demands the ability to analyse and adjust to variable elements.

This game is played and partonised in Mysuru at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Course and the JWGC has played a big part in producing talented golfers in different levels from time to time. One such product out of their junior programme is talented golfer Pranavi S. Urs, who representing India and taking part in the IIFL Wealth Invitational FALDO Series India Qualifier golf tournament at KGA, Bengaluru, from Jan.8-11, emerged as the overall winner in the girls section with a three-day aggregate score of 223 (73+71+79) on Thursday. She is our “Star This Week.”

Pranavi Urs also won the girls U-16 title with her excellent performance. Anika Verma finished runner-up with a three-day card of 223 (73+74+76). Sifat Sagoo secured the third place with a three-day aggregate score of 230 (73+78+79). Pranavi will represent India in the Faldo Series Asia Final in Vietnam in early March against the best players in the continent and a win there can take her to the world final while earning significant additional world ranking points.

Pranavi recently taking part in the IGU YES Bank Army Ladies and junior girls championships 2017 at New Delhi won three titles  in the Category A & B-Ladies, category A & B and Category ‘B’ sections to win a triple crown.

Pranavi Urs, an eighth standard student at National Public School, Mysuru, recently represented Indian Ladies Amateur golf time in the Malaysian open and Asia Pacific Queen Sirkit Cup at China from May 7-13 and performed well in both the tournaments. Earlier she earned selection to the Indian team by finishing second in the National Amateur golf team trials held at Delhi in February 2017.

Pranavi is the daughter of Sharath Chandra Raj Urs and Kaivalya Urs, who are residents at Lakshmipuram in Mysuru. Pranavi, encouraged by her parents, took to playing golf at the age of 8 and after her success in the South Zone sub-junior golf tournament the next year, she took up to the game seriously and has made steady progress since then.

Pranavi intends to train hard for her future tournaments and fare well in the International tournaments representing the country and also in the National level. With excellent support from her parents, her school and JWGC, hope this talented golfer achieves her goal.
