Talented TT player: Spoorthy

Table Tennis is a global sport and is quite popular in Mysuru. Mysuru has been from time to time producing talented TT players who have gone on to represent the State and the Country in various events. M.V. Spoorthy is a talented Table Tennis player who has been consistently performing well in the State and National-level Tournaments in the women’s section. Spoorthy who recently took part in the Karnataka State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament in Hospet won the Women’s Singles title beating A. Samyuktha 11-7, 7-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-1 in the final. She is our ‘Star This Week.’

Spoorthy, in the semi-finals, had a good win over Koumudi Patankar 7-11,11-9, 11-6, 11-9, 5-11, 4-11, 11-4 to sail into the title round.

Spoorthy, a student of SBRR Mahajana FGC, Mysuru, trains at BNM Centre, Bengaluru and has been performing consistently in the State and National-level Tournaments.

Spoorthy won the junior girls singles title, finished runner-up in the youth girls and women’s section in the ‘Canara Bank Cup’ – Karnataka State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament held at Mysuru recently.

Spoorthy also won the junior girls singles title, women’s singles title in the VI State Ranking Udupi TT Tournament held at Manipal. Spoorthy has been on a good run this season with good performances in the Vishwanath Bhusnoor Memorial State Ranking Table Tennis Tourney held at Bengaluru and also in the Union Gymkhana Academy’s State Ranking Tournament in Belagavi where she won a triple crown.

Spoorthi, along with Archana Kamath, won a bronze medal by clinching the doubles title in the National-level in the sub-junior girls section.

Spoorthi, encouraged by her parents, has been one of the top table tennis players in the State in the junior girls and women’s section.
