Mysuru: Seshadripuram Institute of Technology (SIT), Kadakola Industrial Area, Mysuru, had organised an insightful Expert Talk on “Systems Concept: Thoughts to Realisation” by Padma Shri awardee Vasanth Sastri, Outstanding Scientist, DRDO, as part of the Student Induction Programme-2026.
He highlighted the significance of systems thinking and systems engineering in shaping the future of engineering and technology.
He emphasised that engineers should not restrict themselves to a single discipline but should develop an understanding of multidisciplinary subjects and explained the importance of transforming qualitative requirements into measurable and quantitative specifications while working on engineering problems and projects.

He encouraged students to look beyond individual components and understand the complete system or project. The session also highlighted the importance of collaboration, productivity, ethics and continuous learning in an engineer’s professional journey.
He advised students to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills to develop the ability to apply classroom learning to practical situations.
