Talk on Birds and Forest Fires at Zoo tomorrow

Birds play an important role in ecosystem. Due to various anthropogenic activities, bird population is decreasing and hence, there is a need to understand the need for birds and their conservation.  In recent days, one of the biggest issues which is contributing to climate change is Forest Fires. It is also a threat for the fauna and flora. The best ways to approach the above issues is open and transparent discussion with researchers and conservators.  With this background, Mysuru Zoo has invited S. Varshini to share her views on “Conservation of Birds” and Ameya Gode to share his experiences on “Forest Fires: Past and Present” as part of the 22nd Conservation Speak scheduled to be held on Oct.16 at 3 pm at Zoo Amphitheatre.  This event will be followed by release of book “Challenges of a Tropical Forester for a Sustainable Development” written by A. C. Lakshmana, former Secretary to Government of Karnataka. B.P.
