Taluk, District & Divisional-level Dasara Sports to begin from Sept. 5

State-level Dasara Sports to be held from Oct. 11 to 14 at Chamundi Vihar Stadium

Mysuru: With State-level Dasara CM Cup to be held from Oct. 11 to 14 at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in city, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) will be organising Taluk, District and Divisional-level Dasara sports meet starting from Sept. 5. The Department has also instructed the officials to announce the list of athletes selected for the State-level competitions before Oct. 5.

While the Taluk-level sports will commence on Sept. 5, the District-level will commence on Sept. 18 and Divisional-level on Sept. 30. The winning athletes at Divisional-level will be taking part in State-level Dasara Sports Meet to be held as part  of Dasara celebrations.

The Department has made five divisions — Bengaluru Urban Division, Bengaluru Rural Division, Kalaburagi Division, Mysuru Division and Belagavi Division — to provide  opportunities for athletes. Competitions for men and women will be held in track and field events, Swimming, Yogasana, Kabaddi, Hockey, Cycling, Netball, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Gymnastics, Boxing, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Judo, Lawn Tennis, Fencing, Kho Kho, Ball Badminton, Table Tennis, Archery, Taekwondo, Throwball, Shooting and Karate.

Asanas for competition

DYES has also mentioned the asanas for Yoga competition as follows: Taluk-level — Veera Bhadrasana, Janushirasana, Halasana and Dhanurasana.

District-level — Pada Hastasana, Aakarna Dhanurasana, Urdva Dhanurasana and Ardha Matsyendrasana.

Divisional-level — Kurmasana, Bakasana, Rajakapotasana and Natarajasana.

 State-level — Urdvamukha Paschimothasana, Tittibhasana, Shalabha Vrusticana and Purna Matsyendrasana, stated a press release from DYES.

The State-level Dasara CM Cup competitions will be held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium from Oct. 11 to 14. To select athletes for the State-level competitions, the Taluk, District and Divisional-level competitions will be held from Sept. 5. The Department has also instructed to complete all three levels of competitions on time before the commencement of State-level events.
