Tamil Nadu man arrested for attempting to transport deer antlers in plane

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Airport Security personnel have arrested a 38-year-old man from Tamil Nadu for attempting to transport antlers (deer horns) in a flight to Hyderabad on Saturday and have handed over the accused to Vidyaranyapuram Police. 

The arrested has been identified as Karthik Reddy, a resident of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu.

Reddy, who came to the airport to catch the flight to Hyderabad, had to screen his baggage at the security, during which the  airport security personnel found the antlers in his bag and took him into custody. 

They later handed him over to Vidyaranyapuram Police, who formally arrested him and registered a case.

During interrogation, accused Karthik is said to have told the Police that he had found the broken pieces of antlers lying by the roadside while he was coming from Ooty through Bandipur and had collected them, wrapped them in paper and was taking it to Hyderabad with him.

Vidyaranyapuram Police are investigating.
