Tank Road in N.R. Mohalla needs urgent attention

October 9, 2026

Sir,

I would like to bring to the notice of the authorities several issues being faced by residents of Tank Road, 10th Cross, N.R. Mohalla, Ward No. 15, Mysuru.

The area has become a regular dumping spot, with garbage being thrown there by a few people, a fruit stall and some other shops in the vicinity. Despite the emphasis on keeping the city clean, there do not appear to be any effective preventive measures such as warning boards, CCTV cameras or proper enforcement.

The debris generated during the MCC’s road and footpath widening work was flattened and left at the site instead of being removed. Over time, this has raised the ground level, leaving the entrances and surrounding areas of neighbouring houses at a lower level.

This could also lead to rainwater entering the properties during heavy rain. I request the authorities to visit the spot and inspect the situation rather than relying only on photographs.

A portion of the cemetery wall has also remained damaged for nearly a year. The fallen section has added to the deterioration of the area and also raises concerns about security and unauthorised access.

Public urination is another persistent problem. This has created an unhygienic and foul-smelling environment. We are also concerned about people consuming alcohol and drugs in the locality and inside the cemetery premises.

These anti-social activities have made it difficult for women, children and elderly residents to use these roads safely and comfortably. I request the Mysuru City Corporation and Police to conduct a joint inspection of the area and take necessary action. The Police must increase patrolling, especially after 6 pm.
