Tanveer Sait equals father’s record

May 14, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: With his sixth straight victory from Narasimharaja (NR) Assembly Constituency in the city, Congress MLA Tanveer Sait has equalled his late father and former Minister Azeez Sait’s record.

Tanveer Sait, who forayed into politics after the death of his father, successfully contested the by-election held in 2002. Since then, Tanveer Sait has never looked back as he went on to win the subsequent elections held in 2004, 2009, 2013, 2018 and now the 2023 Assembly polls.

Azeez Sait too had won the elections in 1967, 1972, 1978, 1983, 1989 and 1999. Amid this, Muktharunnisa Begum had won 1985 elections on Congress ticket and BJP’s E. Maruthirao Pawar in 1994, from NR seat.

Barring these two terms, Sait family has dominated the particular segment in remaining elections.
