Tanveer Sait writes to CM to utilise his MLA grants to tackle COVID

Mysore/Mysuru: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause havoc in the State, N.R. Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait has written to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa seeking to use his (Sait) MLA Fund (Local Area Development Fund) for the year 2021-22 to tackle the dreaded pandemic.

In his letter, Sait, a Congress MLA, said that Yediyurappa can credit his MLA grants to the CM’s Relief Fund.

Pointing out that Mysuru District Administration can use his Legislator’s grants for providing 20 oxygen concentrators, 5 ventilators and 10 ICU beds at the Government-run COVID Treatment Centre on Azeez Sait Double Road at Kalyanagiri, Sait in his letter has given some suggestions to the Government for checking the spread of the contagion.

Noting that Private Hospitals must be allowed to run temporary COVID Care Centres at big hotels, community halls and other large covered spaces, he said that the CM should divert oxygen supplies meant to iron and steel industries, to Hospitals. Stressing on the need for ensuring that vital vaccines and other emergency medicines do not enter the black market, he maintained that constant monitoring of vaccine supplies and vaccination drives is the need of the hour.

He also said that health care during these troubled times can be augmented by appointment of nursing and para-medical staff on a contract basis for at least one year.

Sait in his letter, has also lauded the efforts being made by the State and Central Governments, in controlling the spread of second wave of the pandemic.
