Taruna Bharathi: Vocal concerts at Ganabharathi tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Taruna Bharathi programme, Ganabharathi has organised two vocal recitals by young and promising artistes of Mysuru at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar tomorrow (May 22) as follows:

6 pm to 7.15 pm: Anagha Bharadwaj; 7.15 pm to 8.30 pm: M.S. Keerthana. Both the events will be accompanied by H. Srivatsa on violin and M.C. Sumukhashesha on mridanga.

Artistes’ Profile

Anagha Bharadwaj, who hails from Srirangapatna, practiced music and veena under her mother, Aruna Prasadachar and  currently, she is continuing her learning under Vidu. Meera Manjunath. She is currently undergoing training for Vidwat (proficiency) examination in music.

M.S. Keerthana is the talented daughter of the renowned mridanga artiste Vid. H.L. Shivashankar Swamy and M.V. Mamatha. She has trained in vocal music under Vidu. R.N. Sreelatha and in dance under Vidu. Kripa Phadke, securing first rank in the Vidwat examination in both disciplines.

She has also learnt the art of Gamaka and mridanga playing. Currently, she is working as a Software Engineer.

H. Srivatsa, son of T.R. Harish and Poornima Harish, began his training in Karnatak vocal classical music under Vidu. R. Tara and completed Junior Vocal Examination and Senior level music with excellent results.

Later, developing a keen interest in violin, he started his training under Guru Ganakalabhushana Vid. H. K. Narasimhamurthy. He is working  at Infosys, Bengaluru and has been actively performing violin concerts for the past two years.

M.C. Sumukhashesha, son of K.S. Chandrashekhar and S. Mahalakshmi, developed a deep inclination toward music at a very young age. Noticing his interest, his parents enrolled him in Ganabharathi Music School.

Sumukha began learning music and mridanga at the tender age of nine. He started his vocal training under Vidu. Vasanthalakshmi and mridanga under Vid. V.S. Ramesh. Later, he continued his Senior-level music under Vidu. Bhagyalakshmi.

Sumukha passed both Junior and Senior exams with distinction and pursued ‘Vidwat’ lessons in vocal music under the guidance of Vid. Bellary M. Raghavendra.

Currently, Sumukhashesha is continuing his training under the celebrated guru, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vid. Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam.

A graduate in Computer Science and Engineering, Sumukha is currently pursuing his MS and Ph.D at IIT Chennai.
