Mysore/Mysuru: Depressed over not getting married, a 39-year-old Software Engineer has allegedly committed suicide by hanging self at his house in Roopanagar on the outskirts of city on Wednesday night.

The deceased is Pratap, son of retired bank employee Rajashekarmurthy, who was working at a private software company in Bengaluru. A native of Kollegal, Rajashekarmurthy was residing in Mysuru while his daughter had settled in America. Pratap had joined a private software company in Bengaluru after completing his Engineering degree and was working from home since the outbreak of COVID pandemic.

It is said that Pratap was depressed as he had not got married and yesterday night, when his parents had gone to attend a marriage of their relative, Pratap is said to have taken the extreme step.

Jayapura Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members.
