Srirangapatna: A 27-year-old Software Engineer, who had gone to Brindavan Gardens in KRS, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Cauvery River near the Bus Stand yesterday afternoon.

The deceased is Kusumanjali, daughter of Kalegowda and a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in Mysuru. She was said to be under mental stress.

Kusumanjali had gone to KRS  along with her mother Veena in her scooter. Kusumanjali told Veena to click her photo but suddenly jumped into the river in front of her mother and ended her life, Police said.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel were summoned to the spot, who later fished out her body and shifted it to MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru for post-mortem.

KRS Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
