One hookah bar owner arrested for supplying liquor

Mysore/Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, who raided hookah bars at Jayalakshmipuram in city, have closed down 10 hookah bars for violating norms. The CCB Police have also arrested four persons including the owner of a hookah bar for supplying liquor to customers.

Following complaints that hookah bars were allowing minors and many students into these hookah bars, the CCB Police conducted raids following instruction from City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna. 

The raids were conducted on 10 hookah bars in the vicinity of Jayalakshmipuram under the supervision of DCP M. Muthuraj and CCB ACP V. Mariyappa.

Meanwhile, the CCB Police have arrested Sandeep, owner of 18+ Coffee Cafe, for supplying liquor illegally to customers besides arresting Vijayakumar, Kupendra and Madhu of Basthipura village, Srirangapatna, under the Karnataka Excise Act, who were said to be consuming liquor at the cafe. The arrested were produced before a Court which remanded them to judicial custody. A total fine of Rs. 9,700 was also collected under COTPA.

CCB Inspectors C. Kiran Kumar and H.R. Vivekananda, V.V. Puram Inspector H.N. Vinay, ASIs Raju and Alexander and staff Srinivasaprasad, C.S. Shivaraju, V. Raghu, Puneeth, Chandrashekar, Shivakumar, Rajesh and Gowtham took part in the raid.
