With today being celebrated as ‘Mothers Day,’ a mother Indian Roller or Blue Jay bird was seen feeding her kid with an insect, which was caught on camera by city lensman G.S. Ravishankar on Outer Ring Road in city. Often seen perched along roadside trees and wires, the Indian Roller is commonly seen in open grassland and scrub forest habitats and has adapted well to human-modified landscapes. The largest population occurs in India, where several States including Karnataka have chosen it as their State bird. It is best known for the aerobatic displays during the breeding season. It is listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List.
