Mysuru: Prof. D.G. Rao Director, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, inaugurated the five-day training-cum-workshop on Testing and Evaluation and Question Item Writing for the Assistant Professors and Research Scholars of Hindi, Tamil and Urdu of South India. The workshop was organised by the National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) at CIIL recently.
Prof. Rao, in his presidential remark, observed that testing and evaluation is a very important area in education field but only NTS Scheme at CIIL is providing training to the teachers and students in this field.
Dr. L. Ramamoorthy, RRO, CIIL and Head, LDC-IL, briefing about the activities of the NTS-I, said that instead of testing the content of textbook, we have to test the knowledge and learning skill of the students to achieve this inter-comparability among the subjects of our education system which is the need of the hour.
Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer In-charge of NTS-I, briefed about the objectives of the workshop. Tariq Khan, Academic Secretary, CIIL, welcomed. Prof. P. R. Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum-Deputy Director, CIIL and Head, NTS-I proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Biresh Kumar compered.
The coordinators of the workshop were for Hindi Dr. Biresh Kumar and Dr. Sanjay Prasad Srivastava; for Tamil Dr. V.Ilangovan and Dr. R. Shakunthala and for Urdu Dr. G.M. Ansari and Dr. Md. Salim Ahmed.
Seventy-nine Assistant Professors and Research Scholars from various Universities and Government First Grade Colleges of Southern States of India who are engaged in teaching and research of Hindi, Tamil and Urdu participated in this workshop.
