Conference on Buddha concludes

Mysuru:  “The world is not controlled by any politician, religious head or Government but literally by a few entrepreneurs,” bemoaned University of Mysore (UoM) Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa. He was speaking at the valedictory of the two-day State-level Conference on ‘Young minds toward Buddha’ organised by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research & Extension Centre of UoM and 14th Tibetan College Students Conference, Bylakuppe, at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Prof. Shivappa pointed out that today the whole world is behind computer and technology especially the youth including those from India with Facebook, Whatsapp and other social media platforms becoming literally indispensable.

He wondered who is actually controlling the world which should be analysed. He hence suggested the youth to go behind Buddha, an epitome of knowledge.

He recalled that Buddha was able to decipher complex situations in simple words understandable even by a novice.

Continuing, Prof. Shivappa said that Buddha Dhyana would uphold the Constitutional values. He added that like Buddha, Basavanna and Ambedkar too sought the mental progress of humans.

Retired Professor from Sri Lanka Dr. Banthe Damenda Porage opined that India, Sri Lanka and Tibet were like ‘Trimurthis’ and added that Buddha born in India travelled to Sri Lanka also to share knowledge.

Centre Director Dr. J. Somashekar, 14th Tibetan College Students Conference President Banthe Sonam Phunsok, Conference Organising Secretary Dr. S. Narendra Kumar, UoM ICT Covenor Dr. Suresh and others were present.
