Theatre artiste passes away

Mysuru: Veteran theatre artiste S.S. Gayathri (68) passed away yesterday, following a brief illness.

A resident of Shantinagar’s Dr. Rajkumar Road, she leaves behind a son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

Last rites were performed at Veerashaiva burial grounds in Vidyaranyapuram last evening.

Gayathri had served in the theatre field for nearly 55 years and was the Secretary of Mysuru District Kannada Professional Theatre Artistes Association for 30 years. She had worked in Obalesha Company, Kumareshwara Natya Sangha, KBR Drama Company and other organisations. She had been conferred several awards including the 2016-17 Karnataka Natak Academy Award for her contribution to the field of theatre.
