Mysuru: A robbery occurred in Kuvempunagar, Mysuru, when a woman returning home from her evening walk was targeted by a thief who snatched her mangalasutra and fled in an autorickshaw.
However, the stolen chain turned out to be rolled gold, as the woman had managed to hold onto the gold tali, saving it.
Lakshmi (57), a resident of Kuvempunagar 2nd Stage, M Block, was walking near Jyothi School around 8.30 pm on Friday when a man standing beside an autorickshaw offered her a ride home, saying, “Come, I’ll drop you at your house.” She declined, replying, “No need, my house is nearby, I’ll walk.”
As Lakshmi continued walking, the man started the autorickshaw but suddenly got down and attempted to snatch her mangalasutra. She clutched the gold tali tightly and screamed for help, but despite her resistance, the man managed to break the chain and flee in the auto-rickshaw. Her quick reflexes saved the gold tali.
Following Lakshmi’s complaint, Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case and launched a search for the suspect.
