March 31, 2018

Nanjangud: The Annual Dodda Jathra Mahotsava concluded at the temple town here last evening with the grand  Theppotsava of Lord Srikanteshwara Swamy at Kapila River.

More than 50,000 devotees witnessed the flower-bedecked float carrying the idol of the deity, sitting on the steps leading to the river where lakhs of devotees have taken a holy dip during the annual  car festival held from Mar. 21 to Mar. 30.

The main attraction of the festival was, however, the Pancha Maha Rathotsava (five chariots) held on Mar. 28.

Prior to the Theppotsava, the temple priests offered puja to the Utsava Moorthi in the presence of Temple Executive Officer Kumaraswamy, Gangaiah, Tahasildar Suraj, Muzrai Tahasildar Yathiraj and Temple Trustees.
