Rs. 21.47 lakh worth gold recovered; Car, revolver, six bullets seized

Mysore/Mysuru: Kuvempunagar Police have arrested three persons on charges of committing house burglaries and have recovered 391 grams gold ornaments worth  Rs. 21,47,500 besides seizing a car, foreign-made revolver and six live bullets from them.

Arrested are 38-year-old Dileep Kumar of Bhuvanahalli in Hassan, 35-year-old Manju of Mahadevapura in Mysuru and 29-year-old M. Rajendra of Hullepura in Chamarajanagar. Acting on a tip off that three persons were moving around in a car to sell a revolver on Feb. 14, Kuvempunagar Police, who intercepted the car near Maramma Temple in Lingambudhi Palya, took the three persons into custody and interrogated them.

During interrogation, accused Dileep Kumar is said to have confessed of committing house burglaries in Kuvempunagar, Vijayanagar and Ashokapuram Police limits in city and had stolen the car in Banasawadi Police limits in Bengaluru. He also stated that he had pledged the stolen gold ornaments in the name of his friends Manju and Rajendra at various gold finance companies besides stating that he had stolen the revolver and bullets while burgling a house at Vijayanagar here. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered Rs. 21,47,500 worth gold ornaments from them besides seizing the car, revolver and bullets. 

Police said that accused Manju was remanded to judicial custody on Feb. 19, while Dileep Kumar and Rajendra were remanded to judicial custody on Feb. 24.

With the arrest, Police have solved 2 cases each in Kuvempunagar and Vijayanagar Police limits and 1 each in Ashokapuram and Banasawadi Police limits. Accused Dileep already has house burglary cases registered against him at Saraswathipuram and Nazarbad Police Stations in city and also at J.P. Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru.

Raju, Sub-Inspector Mahaveer Bilagi, ASI Devaiah and staff Rangaswamy, Rajesh, Hazarath, Krishna, Mehboob, Chandrashekar, Mallur, Aruna Yogesh, Manju, Bhagat, Mahadev, Sagar, Girish, Harish, Meghyanaika, Mahendra, Naveen, Puttappa, Poojari, Nagesh and Madesh in the nabbing and seizing operation.
