Three arrested for sandalwood smuggling

Mysore/Mysuru: The Forest Mobile Squad personnel have arrested three persons on charges of smuggling sandalwood logs and a case has been registered at Mandi Police Station in city.

Those arrested are Raghavendra Gudigar of Sirsi, Sachin M. Gudigar of Soraba in Shivamogga and Narayan of Kesare in Mysuru.

Acting on a tip off that sandalwood was being smuggled from Sirsi to Mandi Mohalla in city, the Mysuru Division Forest Mobile Squad personnel, who conducted an operation arrested the three accused and seized 308-kg sandalwood logs from them.

A case has been registered at Mandi Police Station for further investigation.

Forest Cell CID SP Sudheerkumar Reddy and Madikeri Division CID SP S.S. Kashi guided Mysuru Forest Mobile Squad Sub-Inspector Lakshmi, Kollegal Forest Mobile Squad Sub-Inspector Vijayaraju, Sagar Forest Mobile Squad Sub-Inspector Vinayaka and Sakleshpur Forest Mobile Squad Sub-Inspector Swamy and staff Juhur Ahmed, Hemaraju, Krishnegowda and Arun who took part in the operation.
