152 grams gold jewellery worth Rs. 21.28 lakh recovered; three two-wheelers seized

Mysore/Mysuru: A special Crime Detection team has arrested three chain snatchers and have recovered 152 grams gold jewellery worth about Rs. 21,28,000 besides seizing one Honda Dio scooter, one Passion Pro bike and one Hero Honda Passion Plus bike used for the crime.

Those arrested are 35-year-old A.V. Krishnakumar, a tender coconut vendor and a resident of Agasarahalli village in K.R. Pet taluk of Mandya district, 36-year-old S.R. Naveen Kumar and 26-year-old Syed Farhan, both drivers and residents of Sathigrama village in K.R. Nagar taluk of Mysuru district.

On Apr. 6, 2026 at about 4.30 pm, one Annapoorna, wife of L.P. Umesh was walking towards a garbage pit on the road leading from Lalanahalli village to K.R. Nagar when two unidentified persons on a bike stopped the two-wheeler a little distance away from Annapoorna.

After the bike stopped, the pillion rider, who got down from the bike, walked towards Annapoorna,  snatched her 35-gram gold mangalya chain, fled from the spot, sat on the waiting bike and sped away.

A case was registered at K.R. Nagar Police Station in this regard and a Special Crime Detection team, led by K.R. Nagar Inspector S. Shivaprakash was formed and the team nabbed the three chain snatchers.

During interrogation, the Police found that the three were involved in four chain snatching and one house burglary cases.

Based on the information from the accused, the Police recovered 152 grams gold worth Rs. 21.28 lakh besides seizing three two-wheelers used for the crime.

Krishna, Girish, Ahmed Ali, Avinash, Ganesh, Sunitha, Indad Ali, Assitant Sub-Inspector Vasanth Kumar and District CDR Cell personnel in the nabbing and recovery operation.
