February 22, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: A three-day international virtual workshop on ‘The Ideology Inherent in the Tradition of Vedic Recitation and Practices – An exposure’ is jointly organised by Amrita Darshanam – International Centre for Spiritual Studies, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus and South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) from Feb.25 to 27 at Amrita Campus in Bogadi II Stage here.

Prof. K.E. Devanathan, Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru, will inaugurate the workshop on Feb.25 at 9 am followed by sessions conducted by over 35 distinguished scholars from India and abroad. Apart from intellectual discourses and interactions on Vedic practices the specialty of this workshop lies in the fact that ritualistic practices are demonstrated by the actual conduct of representative forms accompanied by appropriate Vedic chanting and explanation.

Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor, Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Maharashtra, will deliver valedictory address on Feb. 27 at 3.30 pm.

The workshop aims to explore and revitalise the significance of Vedic recitation and practices through the academic platform, so that a wider  community would be stimulated to develop interest in Indian traditions thereby providing a worldwide circulation of traditional performances by way of soliciting contributions from eminent scholars of the world.

The free workshop is open to research scholars, academicians, students and all others interested. For registration and details contact Convener Dr. Vigneshwar Bhat (9449677863) or Co-convener Dr. Srikanta Parida (8438260205), according to a press release from Dr. Rekha Bhat, Principal.
