Three-day State-level Women’s Athletic Meet begins in city

Mysuru: The three-day State-level Athletic Meet for Women-2025, organised by Department of School Education (PU), began at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here yesterday.

The athletic meet was inaugurated by RV University Registrar Prof. Sahana D. Gowda who called upon students to express themselves on the field without thinking about winning or losing.

Speaking on the occasion, Department of School Education (PU) Sports Director Dr. C.G. Ramesh said the Department had taken measures to support talented sports persons in Taluk, District, State and National-levels. He called upon students to make use of the two percent quota reserved for sports achievers in medical, engineering and other educational streams.

Department of School Education Deputy Director M.P. Nagamma, Karnataka State PU College Physical Education Lecturers Association President Basavaraju, International Athlete Nagendra Prasad, Mysuru District PU College Principals Association President Hanumanth Rao, State Government Employees Association Director M.C. Manjegowda and others were present.

Results

On Day-1, Nagini of Dakshina Kannada won the gold medal in 1500 mts run. She was followed by Charishma and Akshara of Belagavi who won silver and bronze respectively. In shot put, M. Sanjana Reddy of Bengaluru won gold, Srimayi Kulkarni of Dakshina Kannada silver and Akshatha Shetty bronze. In the 100 mts hurdles, Sakshi Christina of Dakshina Kannada won gold, Ramya Kadam of Vijayapura silver and P. Harshitha of Bengaluru won bronze.
