Mysuru City and District Brahmana Sangha and Mysuru Brahmana Yuva Vedike together have organised a three-day State-level Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament for Brahmin youth commencing from May 24 at J.K. Grounds here.
Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Sangha President D.T. Prakash said that players from Mysuru, Mandya, Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Ballari, Davanagere and Hubballi are expected to participate who will be provided food and accommodation. Three prizes of Rs.30,000, Rs.20,000 and Rs.10,000 will be given away to the winning teams along with a trophy. Certificates will be issued to all players, he added.
Prakash further said that the Tourney would be inaugurated by Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahsabha State President K.N. Venkatanarayan on May 24 at 10 am.
Pejawar Seer Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji and Sri Vidyaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Kukke Subramanya Mutt will grace the occasion.
District Minister G.T. Devegowda, KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao, MLAs S.A. Ramdas, L. Nagendra and BJP leader H.V. Rajeev will be the chief guests.
The valedictory on May 26 at 4.30 pm will have former Cricketer B.S. Chandrashekar giving away prizes to the winning teams. Actors Mandya Ramesh and Roopa Iyrer will be present, said prakash.
