Three of a family killed in ghastly road accident near Sathanur

Mysuru: In a ghastly road accident which took place near Sathanur in Ramanagar district on Friday morning, three persons of a family were killed on the spot, while three persons including two children sustained severe injuries, when a KSRTC bus rammed into the Maruti Omni van in which they were travelling towards Mysuru.

The deceased have been identified as Chunchegowda, Vyjayanthi and Ranjitha. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Ramanagar.

Chunchegowda and family, who were the native of Bhugathagalli near Mysuru were staying in Bengaluru and used to often come to their native place.

On Friday, the family left Bengaluru to their native place for the festival in their Maruti Omni van (KA-05 MH-2010) when a KSRTC bus (KA-11 F-0381) proceeding towards Kanakapura from Malavalli, rammed into the van at about 8.15 am near Eeregowdanadoddi close to Sathanur, killing three persons on the spot.

Sathanur SI Bhaskar and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the bodies to Sathanur General Hospital mortuary, where post-mortem were conducted and the bodies handed over to the relatives of the deceased.

While the Maruti Omni van was completely damaged, the KSRTC bus after hitting the van, came to a standstill after ramming into a fence nearby.

Kanakapura Circle Inspector Mallesh, who has registered a case in this regard, is investigating.
