Three house burglars arrested

Rs. 18 lakh worth diamond and gold ornaments, silver articles recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: Udayagiri Police, have arrested three house burglars and have recovered diamond and gold jewellery and silver articles worth Rs. 18 lakh from them. 

The three burglars were arrested at 4.45 am on Tuesday, when the burglars were moving around in an auto near a huge Banyan tree in Vidyashankar Layout in Udayagiri Police limits. The Police have seized iron rods used to break open the locks which was kept behind the seat of the auto. 

The arrested are 33-year-old Syed Aleem of Mahadevapura Main Road near Rehamathiya Masjid, 27-year-old auto driver Umar Pasha of Bharath Nagar and 30-year-old Waseem Pasha of Azeez Sait Nagar.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of committing five house burglaries in Udayagiri Police limits and one house burglary each in Nazarbad and Alanahalli Police limits.

Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 205 grams gold ornaments, 26 grams diamond jewellery and 5 kg silver articles, with a total worth of Rs.18 lakh, from Manjunath of Hunsur Housing Board, Adil Pasha of Bannur and Devendra Singh, Proprietor of Navkar Bankers in Hunsur, who had received the stolen booty. 

The Police have also seized one TVS Apache bike bought after selling some stolen jewellery and an autorickshaw used for the crime from the accused. 

One of the accused, Syed Aleem was earlier involved in many burglary cases and had also served five years in jail. He was released from jail in September 2019. Another accused Umar Pasha was also involved in many theft cases and had served four years in jail and was released in May 2019.

Devaraja Sub-Division ACP M.N. Shashidhar supervised Udayagiri Inspector N.M. Poonacha, Sub-Inspectors Jayakeerthi, Madan Kumar and Nataraj and staff M. Shankar, Diwakar, Siddiq Ahmed, M.M. Manjunath, Mohan Kumar, R.S. Krishna, Shivarajappa and Sameer in the nabbing and recovery operation.

Burglary in broad daylight

Burglars, who broke into a house at Cheluvamba Hospital Quarters on Tuesday morning, have decamped with 321 grams gold ornaments and 450 grams silver articles worth Rs. 9.81 lakh from the house. The burglary took place at the quarters of Kumar Nayak. 

He (Kumar Nayak) and his wife Vasantha Kumari, on Mar. 17, had locked the quarters and had gone to work in the morning, after which the burglars struck and decamped with the valuables. 

A case has been registered at Devaraja Police Station.
