Cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees looted
Mysuru: It seems that there is a rise in house burglaries in city as more incidents of house thefts are being reported sending a sense of fear among the residents. After the incidents of four house burglaries in Vijayanagar and Dattagalli being reported on Sunday, three more house burglaries have now been reported from Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Vijayanagar and Gokulam in city.
In the first incident, a house belonging to industrialist Dheemanth Kumar at Rajarajeshwari Nagar has been burgled on Aug. 25. Dheemanth, on Aug. 25, had locked his house and had gone to his native place along with his family members to celebrate Gowri-Ganesha Festival. When he returned on Sunday (Aug. 27), he found the front door of the house open and on entering the house and inspecting the rooms, he found silver articles weighing about 1kg and worth about Rs. 30,000 kept in the almirah missing and immediately lodged a complaint at Saraswathipuram Police Station.
In the second incident, burglars have decamped with gold ornaments worth about Rs. 1.5 lakh from a locked house at Vijayanagar 4th Stage, belonging to one Umesh Kumar. A case has been registered at Vijayanagar Police Station in this regard.
In the third incident, burglars who broke into a house belonging to the daughter of Dr. Narasimha in Gokulam here, have decamped with the valuables. Dr. Narasimha’s daughter and son-in-law, who work at a private hospital, had gone to attend a conference in Malaysia and the incident came to light, when Dr. Narasimha went to his daughter’s house and found the door broken.
Upon entering the house, Dr. Narasimha found household things scattered and was not sure what has been stolen. He immediately lodged a complaint at V.V. Puram Police Station in this regard.
It may be mentioned that despite the Police asking the residents to inform them in case they go out of station, so that the Police may keep vigil on such houses, most of the residents do not inform the Police, resulting in house burglars targeting such houses. The Police have again asked the residents to inform them if they go out of station.
