KRS: Three children of a same family were drowned in a pond at Chikkayarahalli village at the North Bank of KRS yesterday evening.

The deceased children are Sonu (17), Simran (16) and Siddiq (9), all residents of Ghousianagar in Mysuru.

It is learnt that the children, along with their family, had come to their relative’s house at the village yesterday. As the villagers were celebrating Kalamma Jatra, the children went to the pond meant to store water for cattle and ventured into the water and were drowned.

Soon, villagers, who rushed to the pond on information, jumped into the pond and fished out the bodies of the three children yesterday itself.

KRS Sub-Inspector Ramesh and staff, who reached the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and shifted the bodies to MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru.

Post-mortem was conducted this morning and the bodies were handed over to the family members. KRS Police are investigating.
