Gundlupet: Three persons were killed while another sustained injuries when a plywood-laden truck rammed into a TVS moped and turned turtle on a turning of NH-67 in Bandipur Tiger Reserve near Melukamanahalli yesterday.

The deceased are Shivappa (65), his friend Kalappa (67), both residents of Shivapura village in the taluk and truck driver Eshwar (55). All the three were killed on the spot, while truck cleaner 50-year-old Deepak, who sustained serious injuries, has been admitted to the Government Hospital.

Shivappa and Kalappa were proceeding on the bypass road towards Bandipur on the TVS moped, when the plywood-laden truck coming from Ooty side rammed into the moped.

Soon after hitting the moped, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in the truck turning turtle and falling on the roadside killing the truck driver and seriously injuring the cleaner.
