Periyapatna: Three persons, said to be Cooking Assistants, who were proceeding to work on a bike were killed when an SUV rammed into the bike at Kirunelli Gate in the taluk yesterday afternoon.

The deceased are identified as Prakash (19), Someshwara (18) and Mahadevaswamy (19), all residents of Ibhjaala village in Nanjangud taluk.

The deceased, who were on their way to Siddapur from Hunsur, were proceeding on Periyapatna-Mysuru Road on the bike (KA-09-HR-6070). When they tried to overtake a KSRTC bus, which was going in front of them, the SUV (KA-03-MP-2723), which came from the opposite direction, rammed into them resulting in the three being killed on the spot.

On receiving information, SP Amit Singh, Dy.SP Bhaskar Rai, Circle Inspector G.N. Ramesh and staff visited the spot.

Periyapatna Police have registered a case in this regard.
