Mandya: In a ghastly road accident, three videographers who were on their way to cover a religious event were killed on the spot when the Maruti Omni van in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a KSRTC bus in Kirugavalu Police Station limits of the district this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Dilip (24), Nithin (27) and Mahesh (24). The three, who were said to be videographers by profession were on their way to cover a jatra near Malavalli, when the Omni van they were travelling crashed into a KSRTC bus proceeding towards Mysuru from Malavalli, near Chennapillakoppalu on Mysuru-Malavalli road at about 7.30 am.
Due to the impact of the collision, all the three occupants died on the spot. Kiragavalu Police have registered a case this regard.
Senior Advocate run over by train: In another incident, an octogenarian advocate was run over by a train near Mandya Railway Station this morning.
The deceased senior advocate has been identified as Balasundaram (82).
Balasundaram was crossing the Mysuru-Bengaluru railway track near Mandya Railway Station, when he was run over by a Mysuru-bound train at about 9.45 am, it is learnt.
Balasundaram was also said to be the founder of a political party named AK-47. Mandya Railway Police have registered a case.
