Three meet watery grave near Saragur

Saragur: A man and his wife, who jumped into a canal to save their drowning daughter, who had slipped into a canal were drowned along with their daughter. The incident took place at Changodanahalli village yesterday.

The deceased are Shahira Bhanu (18), Shawara Bhanu (35) and Mohammed Kapeel (42).

The three had come to attend the last rites of a relative at Saragur and after the rituals, they went to the canal to wash their hands and legs when Shahira accidentally slipped into the canal. Shawara, who first jumped into the canal to rescue her daughter, got drowned and later, Mohammed, who jumped into the waters to recue both of them also got drowned. 

The victims are natives of Changodanahalli village, who were residing in Bengaluru, it is learnt. Saragur Police, who visited the spot, summoned expert swimmers and divers, who have fished out the bodies of two persons and are searching for the other body.

Post-mortem was conducted at Saragur Government Hospital. Saragur Police have registered a case.
