Three Police Stations to get own buildings

Mysore/Mysuru: In a major civil infrastructure development plan concerning the Police Department, the State Government has decided to construct building for housing over a hundred Police Stations that are currently functioning in rented or other Government Department buildings. 

Accordingly, Hebbal, Alanahalli and Devaraja Civil Police Stations in the city will get their own buildings.

Out of the 1,054 Police Stations in the State, 60 are functioning in rented buildings, while 83 are functioning from other Government Department buildings and 76 are in a dilapidated state, which need to be reconstructed.

In this backdrop, the Government has set aside Rs. 200 crore in the Budget (2021-22) for construction of Police Station buildings over the next five years. The Government has ordered for invitation of tenders for the construction.

In Mysuru, the Alanahalli Police Station, which is currently functioning from a rented building, will have its own building at Marimallappa Teachers Layout in Alanahalli, while Hebbal Police Station building will come up in Hebbal First Stage and Devaraja Civil Police Station will have a new building in Devaraja Traffic Police Station premises.

Likewise, Nanjangud Traffic Police Station, the dilapidated Bylakuppe Police Station in Periyapatna taluk  and Kavalande Police Station in Nanjangud taluk of the district will get new buildings.
