Mysuru: Three Policemen including an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) had a miraculous escape when a tree located in the City Police Commissioner’s office got uprooted due to heavy rains and strong wind on Saturday night.
N.R. Sub-division ACP C. Gopal, ASI Doreswamy and Head Constable Mallikarjunappa, who had come to the Police Commissioner’s office on work, were about to board their vehicle at about 8.30 pm, when a tree, unable to withstand strong wind and heavy rains, came crashing down on the vehicle causing extensive damages, it is learnt.
In another incident, a tree fell near Nazarbad Police Station. However there were no injuries or damages. The MCC’s Abhaya team which rushed to the spot, removed the tree and cleared the road.
Elsewhere, water clogging was reported from K.R. Circle, Yadavagiri Railway under bridges, Valmiki Road and other areas.
There were also reports of storm water gushing into houses in low-lying areas of Janatanagar, Medar Block, Madhuvana layout etc. Heavy rains also disrupted power supply in Jalapuri, J.P. Nagar, Udayagiri, Raghavendranagar, N.S. Road, Shantala Theatre, Mandi Mohalla, Ramakrishna Nagar, Dattagalli, Paduvarahalli and other areas.
