Three Sub-Registrar offices in city to get own buildings soon

June 20, 2017

Mysuru: Three Sub-Registrar offices in the city will soon have own buildings as the State Government has finally released CA sites for the buildings to be constructed. Mysuru South Senior Sub-Registrar office, East and West Sub-Registrar’s offices will function from new premises and the sites have been granted by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

It may be recalled here that a report was published in Star of Mysore dated July 24, 2016 under the title “Four Sub-Registrar offices in city do not have ‘own’ buildings — Rs. 2.27 lakh spent on rented buildings per month.” One more report “3 Sub-Registrar offices to have own buildings — State Govt. responds to Star of Mysore report; sanctions CA Sites” was published on October 20, 2016 as the Government sanctioned the land.

The reports had highlighted how four out of six offices of the Sub-Registrars involved in registration of properties and marriages, together generating a revenue of more than Rs. 238 crore per year, are functioning from rented premises paying a whopping Rs. 2,27,300 as monthly rent. There are 15 offices of the Sub-Registrars in the district out of which six are located in Mysuru city alone.

Now the CA sites have been handed over to the Sub-Registrar offices as per the Government terms and conditions and have been given on a 30-year contract.

At present, the office of South Senior Sub-Registrar is located near Ramakrishnanagar Circle, Mysuru (West) Sub-Registrar’s office is located near water tank at Vijayanagar 2nd Stage and Mysuru (East) Sub-Registrar’s office is beside RTO’s office on Dr. Rajkumar Road at Kalyanagiri.

Mysuru West Sub-Registrar’s office will function from Vijayanagar Third Stage (in a CA plot between Malakanadu Samudaya Bhavan and Aishwarya Petrol Pump) and the office of Mysuru (East) Sub-Registrar will function from CA-03 site near the Karnataka State Group D Employees Housing Cooperative Society Layout at Sathagalli.

Sources said that the land documents have been handed over to the Sub-Registrar offices as per the rules and regulations of Urban Development Authorities (civic amenities and site distribution) and a concession of 50 percent has been provided.

Rs. 1,01,000 rent has been fixed per month for South Senior Sub-Registrar’s office, Rs. 20,000 for West Sub-Registrar’s office and Rs. 33,000 rent per month has been fixed for East Sub-Registrar’s office. Very soon, the State Government will be approached to sanction funds for building, sources said.
