Tiger’s body found with forelegs, hind legs and canines missing

August 26, 2020

Hanagodu: A tiger has been found dead inside the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve and shockingly, its forelegs and hind legs have been chopped off and also its canines have been removed.

The carcass of the tiger was found late last evening near Tattekere Haadi in the Kallahalla Range of the Tiger Reserve. Forest Department officers have suspected that the incident would have occurred two days back.

As soon as the carcass was spotted by Forest Watchers on regular beat, it was informed to the higher officers.

As it was dark yesterday, the officers visited the spot this morning and to their dismay, they found that its forelegs and hind legs have been chopped off and also its canines have been removed. It is yet to be established if the feline has been killed or died due to territorial fight or poisoned. The Department staff is yet to ascertain if it is a male or a female tiger. Details awaited.
