Mysuru: On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, in association with Mysuru Zilla Amateur Cycling Samsthe and Mysore Athletes Club, had organised a ‘Tiranga Cycle Rally’ in city recently.
The cycle rally was part of the countrywide organisation of the event under ‘Fit India’ Mission (Abhiyaan) of ‘Khelo India’ programme launched by the Union Government.
The rally, in which over 50 cyclists took part, was jointly flagged off by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Assistant Director Bhaskar Nayak and Department of Public Libraries Deputy Director B. Manjunath, at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad.
The rally passed through Nazarbad Circle and the new Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Bannur Road in Siddarthanagar, where it went around the entire premises, before returning to the starting point. The rally was aimed to express gratitude to the Indian Armed forces.
