Tokyo Paralympic Games (August 24 – September 5): Shooter Manish Narwal wins India’s third gold

Indian shooters Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adana clinched the gold and silver medal respectively in the P4 – Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 final at Asaka Shooting Range today.

The 19-year-old Manish created the Paralympic record as he amassed 218.2 points to clinch the gold while Singhraj grabbed his second medal of the Tokyo Paralympics with 216.7 points. The Russian Paralympic Committee’s (RPC) Sergey Malyshev won the bronze medal.

With this, India’s overall tally rose to 15, including 3 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze.

Till yesterday (Friday), India had 2 gold (Avani Lekhara – Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 and Sumit Antil – Men’s Javelin-Throw F64), 6 silver (Praveen Kumar – Men’s High-Jump T64; Mariyappan Thangavelu – Men’s High-Jump T63); Devendra Jhajharia – Men’s Javelin-Throw F46; Yogesh Kathuniya – Men’s Discus-Throw F56; Bhavinaben Patel – Table Tennis Women’s Singles Class 4 and Nishad Kumar – Men’s High-Jump T47) and 5 bronze (Harvinder Singh – Archery Men’s Recurve; Avani Lekhara – Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1; Sharad Kumar – Men’s High-Jump T63; Singhraj Adana – Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1; Sundar Singh Gurjar – Men’s Javelin-Throw F46.
