Total COVID positive cases crosses 2,000 in Mysuru district

Mysuru reports 145 fresh COVID cases and five deaths; Mandya sees 37 new cases; Kodagu reports seven and Chamarajanagar reports 31 fresh COVID cases and one death on Wednesday

Mysore/Mysuru: With 145 fresh COVID cases reported yesterday, Mysuru district has recorded a total of 2,053 positive cases with a total of 693 patients being discharged so far including 19 patients yesterday.

There are a total of 1,275 active cases in the district. Five COVID related deaths has been reported yesterday bringing the total deaths to 85, according to the media bulletin last evening.

The following are the COVID statistics of Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar, according to the State bulletin received last evening.

Mandya: Thirty Seven fresh COVID cases were reported in the district yesterday bringing the total number of positive cases to 960.

As many as 695 patients have been discharged so far and there are a total of 258 active cases and a total of seven COVID related deaths in the district.

Elderly COVID positive patient commits suicide: A 60-year-old man, who was admitted to the COVID Hospital in Mandya has committed suicide by hanging self at the hospital toilet. The elderly man, who was suffering from age-related ailments, was undergoing treatment at the General Ward of the hospital. Samples of his blood and throat fluid was collected on July 20 for COVID test. As the lab report confirmed that he was COVID positive, he was shifted from the General Ward to COVID Ward.

On Wednesday night, the elderly man began to suffer from severe respiratory problem and was shifted to the ICU. But as the respiratory problem escalated and unable to bear it, the man hanged himself at the toilet of the hospital with his dhoti, according to the doctors.

Kodagu: Kodagu has reported seven fresh COVID cases bring the total number of positives in the district to 288. A total of 210 patients have been discharged so far including 28 patients yesterday.

There are 73 active cases in the district and the total COVID related deaths are five.

Chamarajanagar: The district has reported 31 fresh COVID cases and the total number of positive cases are 395.

12 patients were discharged yesterday bringing the total discharges to 210.

There are 180 active cases in the district now and one COVID related death was reported yesterday bringing the total deaths to five.
