Tourists’ gold ornaments, cash, mobile phones stolen

Mysuru: Even as the Police personnel were busy managing the heavy Dasara rush, the nimble fingers of the pick pockets and robbers were busy picking pockets and snatching gold ornaments.

Nearly Rs.50,000 cash and 106 gram gold ornaments were picked from the vanity bag of one Mallika travelling in a city bus. She came to Mysuru from Bengaluru on Oct.18.

She reached Mysuru by train at 5.30 pm. From the Railway Station, she reached the City Bus Stand by bus. When she alighted, she found the zip of her vanity bag opened. While checking the bag, she found Rs.50,000 cash missing as also 45 gram gold necklace, 35 gram Lakshmi Dollar pendant, three gold rings of 5.5 gram, one ring of 6 grams and 4 grams earrings totalling 106 grams.

Mallika, who has filed a complaint in the Devaraja Police Station, said in her complaint that she had brought the gold ornaments to pawn and along with it cash, both of which were stolen in the bus.

Mobiles stolen: Lakhs of people had gathered to watch the Dasara procession on Oct.19 and in the melee, the robbers had a field day stealing mobiles and purses. However, not many have filed complaints.

But, a victim, Rishitha Juneja has filed a complaint in the Devaraja Police Station that her iPhone 7 mobile was stolen when she was watching the procession near Ayurveda College.

Complaints have also been registered at Krishnaraja Police Station regarding the stealing of mobile phone and purse of the devotees on their way to the Chamundeshwari Temple on Vijayadashami Day.

Naveen was going along with his elder sister Prabhavathi and her daughter Tanuja for Chamundeshwari’s darshan, when Rs.2,000 cash and Karbonn K9 mobile phone were stolen from the purse, he said in the complaint.
